Augusta, GA, February 4, 2021 – Augusta Technical College is proud to announce that two deserving members of the Alpha Chi Delta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Ms. Merciful Fuller and Ms. Wilisa Ruffin, have been selected to represent Augusta Technical College as members of the All-Georgia Academic Team. These students have also been selected as nominees in the 2020-2021 All-USA Academic Team competition. Ms. Fuller and Ms. Ruffin were selected from a limited number of students per campus for this nomination. The nominations place these students in competition for both the All-USA Academic Team, the Coca-Cola Academic Team, and the New Century Pathway Scholarship Awards. Scholars will be notified of placement on national teams or scholarship by April 2021.

“It feels wonderful to be selected to represent Augusta Technical College and our great state in this wonderful opportunity” stated Ms. Fuller. “I am thankful to all who have helped me get this far.”

“Being chosen to represent Augusta Tech as a nominee for the All-USA / Coca-Cola Academic Team is an honor. This achievement will open the door to greater experiences and opportunities for me to excel as a leader in my community. It is just the beginning,” stated Ms. Ruffin.

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. The American Association of Community Colleges recognizes Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges. “The individuals selected for the All-Georgia Academic Team represent the best and the brightest our state has to offer,” stated Phi Theta Kappa Georgia Regional Coordinator Amy Hancock. “These students not only achieved academically during a challenging year, but they excelled at their colleges and in their communities. Our future is certainly bright with students like these leading the way.”

Ms. Fuller, a Marketing Management student, and Ms. Ruffin, a Computer Support Specialist student, both hail from Hephzibah, Georgia, and will receive an All-Georgia medallion and certificate to commemorate this significant honor at a virtual or in-person ceremony to be held later this spring.
