Augusta Technical College and The Warrior Alliance's Operation Double Eagle Program Gains National Attention on CBS Evening News

Augusta, GA, November 11, 2021

Augusta Technical College & The Warrior Alliance Operation Double Eagle Program will be featured on CBS Evening News with Norah O'Donnell on Veterans Day.

Operation Double Eagle is a 9-week skills development program in Augusta, GA, that connects veterans and transitioning active-duty service members to a network of employers seeking “job-ready” veterans for nationwide career opportunities. Made possible by a grant from The Bob Woodruff Foundation, the Double Eagle Performance Center is a dynamic worksite for veterans to gain valuable skills through a hands-on learning program.

Students complete classes at Augusta Technical College and perform hands on activities at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course (The Patch). Having graduated four cohorts already, the program has garnered national attention from the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA), Golf Digest - April 2021 Masters edition, Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Augusta Chronicle, Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association (GGCBA), United States Golf Association (USGA), and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).

The Warrior Alliance’s mission is to help Warriors and their families achieve a fulfilling civilian life by promoting collaboration between the organizations that can support them during the transition from military service.

Augusta Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), is a Purple Heart Technical College. The designation signifies the college’s recognition and honor of veterans who were wounded in combat while serving their country and are now pursuing higher education and careers at Augusta Technical College. Augusta Technical College has a veteran assistance program, veteran coordinator, and student veteran organization that help military personnel and their families make the smooth transition from military service to civilian employment.

Check out the special segment on Thursday evening at 6:30pm EST to learn how this program is improving the lives of Veterans everyday. To learn more about the program, check out the link below: https://www.thewarrioralliance.org/operation-double-eagle/
