Augusta Technical College Announces 2021 Summer & Fall Operational Plan

Augusta, GA– Augusta Technical College president Dr. Jermaine Whirl has announced the college’s 2021 Summer and Fall Operational Plan to students, faculty, and staff.

The college will offer traditional face-to-face classes, hybrid (up to 50% of the course content is online), and fully virtual classes. Student support services such as the Success, Career, and Counseling Centers will be offered face to face and virtually.

Prospective students, parents, and visitors should continue to feel confident that the college has maintained a healthy learning environment since COVID-19 started, with only 119 positive reported cases since March 2020. Starting this summer, the college will reopen its Augusta, Grovetown, Thomson, and Waynesboro Campus facilities for rentals and community use. Augusta Technical College is also working with University Hospital to offer a Moderna Vaccine Clinic to faculty, staff, and students on May 14th from 8am to 1pm on the Augusta Campus.

“Enhanced cleanings in each facility and major investments in proper PPE and training can be attributed to our outcomes,” stated Dr. Whirl. “In an abundance of caution, the college will continue social distancing practices and mask wearing for all faculty, staff, and students. The health and safety of our students and employees are our number one priority.”

At $100 a credit hour, the college looks forward to continuing to offer high demand post-secondary credentials in a variety of programs in business, cyber, healthcare, industrial and engineering technology, and public & professional services. In addition to academics, the college also offer a wide array of extracurricular activities; these include our SkillsUSA Team, Student Government Association, Rotaract, and honor societies such as Phi Theta Kappa and the National Technical Honor Society.

Our most recent accolades include being ranked the 3rd best two-year college in Georgia by Wallet Hub, 6th best by Niche, and being recently selected as a Neighborhood Champion by Bank of America.
