Augusta, Georgia - December 9, 2024
Augusta Technical College President Dr. Jermaine Whirl and Brig. Gen. Mark Miles established a partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Cyber Center of Excellence and Augusta Technical College to provide educational benefits for service members in Cybersecurity programs.
“The strength of any military lies not only in its physical readiness, but in the intellect and character of its Soldiers,” said Brig. Gen. Mark Miles during the ceremonial signing. “Education, like military discipline, is the cornerstone of resilience, innovation, and unity. It shapes minds, fuels progress, and, most importantly, fortifies the spirit of service to something greater than oneself.”
The CCoE trains approximately 22,000 service members annually and partnerships like this allow for a ready workforce capable of defending our nation in the cyber domain.
"Augusta Tech is proud to renew and strengthen our academic pathways for members of the Fort Eisenhower Community. This agreement ensures that well fulfill our mission of workforce development while also supporting the national security mission of our local and national command. We appreciate the leadership of Fort Eisenhower in entrusting us with this incredible opportunity to support their active-duty soldiers, and the dependents of our military community," stated College President Dr. Jermaine Whirl.
This MOU establishes the terms for awarding course credit from Augusta Technical College to service members who completed training/education courses at the CCoE in Cyber Operations, phases one and two. The credits will apply towards an associate’s in applied science from Augusta Technical College’s cyber security programs.
Augusta Technical College currently has more than 450 Active, Reserve, Retired or Veterans enrolled in a variety of programs including cyber security. Event photos: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBU437
